Our Biggest Dream was to tour the world on a Motorcycle, having seen just how much of the globe we didn't want to see and how much of it we couldn't ride across,. we narrowed our aim and spent 5 weeks touring Australia on a hired Yamaha 900 Diversion. It was fantastic, a trip of a lifetime. I'll get around to writing up the whole diary one day but for now here's a real brief day by day. Those from Oz will recognise the names of places and know just how far apart some of them are. Those who haven't been, should go and find out for themselves. The roads were great, the weather fantastic and the people just "Bonza".

13.3.95 Flew out from Gatwick, London.

14.3.95 Stay over in Japan, Osaka. Via the newly opened floating airport !

15.3.95 Arrived Sydney, sorted out B&B and Bike Hire. Crashed out on Bondi Beach. It Rained !!

16.3.95 Joy’s Birthday, Tourist attractions beckoned. Did the Aquarium, Opera House etc.

17.3.95 Sorted out Bike and gear from Shop. Had a lazy day on beach and shopping.

18.3.95 More Tourist traps, visited Tarronga Zoo, Saw the Giraffes and Seals in Sydney !?!?

19.3.95 Joy was real "Crook" (sick), must have drunk too much sea water. Spent the day in watching telly.

20.3.95 Hired a Boogie Board and hit the beach. Superb. Nearly got washed away by the rip tide ! Scary Stuff !

21.3.95 Got XJ900 from "OZ BIKE TOURS" and did the Blue mountains, Jenolan Caves, 3 Sisters. Brilliant.

22.3.95Visited  Botany Bay, went via National park to Woolongong to pay homage to Wayne. Camped on beach, night out with locals we met on plane over. Absolutley bollox'd. Superb night. Dead friendly locals.

23.3.95 Spent the day chilling on "7 mile beach", met a bunch of "bikies", Saw Fitzroy Falls, our Tent off the back rack in Kangaroo Valley, came to a halt in a Kangaroo corpse at the side of the road. Last night we ever used it ! Canberra by sunset on mount Aisley.

24.3.95 Canberra day out, including Motorcycle museum, Dinosaur museum, Parliament house and War museum. Tudor Pub.

25.3.95 Holding 200kph and ran out of fuel heading for Eastern Creek. Camp Site, beer and Bike vids outdoors ! Excellent.

26.3.95 Oz GP Eastern Creek, 3 good races. Headed out for Windsor motel.

27.3.95 Putty Road, 3 hours of fun. Singleton, Tamworth, Armidale. Spa pool and Chinese.

28.3.95 Bought Sheepskin seat cover to cure the bum ache, a fork seal starts leaking, back tyre is bald. Warwick to Brisbane. cockroach hotel. Steakhouse, bath, bed.

29.3.95 Bike in for service and tyre. Boat ride through Brisbane, Lone Pine sanctuary. Heading north again, out running storm clouds. Sunset on coast.

30.3.95 Gympie, Tin Can Bay. Fed "Scarrie" the dolphin and new baby. Rained lots.

31.3.95 Frasier Island Buss tour. Rainforest Walk and dingo’s on beach. Lake swim, plane ride from beach, sharks in waves !

1.4.95 Fed Dolphins again and left, speeding ticket just outside Gladstone. Rained a lot, made Rockhampton by 3, St Lawrence for fuel and into Carmilla by 6pm.

2.4.95 Mackay, Airey Beach, Whitsunday’s. Watched GP’s on telly whilst in outside pool, beers from Drive through offy !

3.4.95 Gretel Yacht Ride. Sunburnt legs. Snorkelled on Reef, Joy went Scuba. Bad night with burns.

4.4.95 Ran out of fuel heading north again. ½ km push. Soaking my jeans at truck stops to ease the sunburn. Made Cairns at 4:30 and into the hotel pool !

5.4.95 Paid speeding fine in town, Did Crocodile farm. Awesome great Monsters !!!

6.4.95 Catamaran Ride to Fitzroy Island, Walked to lighthouse. Loads of lizards. Moore Ref snorkelling, Semi Sub ride, Helicopter ride to spot sharks and turtles on reef. Fish ate my Mole !

7.4.95 Heading South. Table Lands. Gillies Range, ace. Lake Eacham, Milla Milla falls. Townsville 4:30, got video and stayed in. Knackered.

8.4.95 Rockhampton to Yeppoon, big mileage day.

9.4.95 Cammoo caves, Dreamtime Land, threw boomerang and did Didgeridoo.

10.4.95 Looking for turtle beach, South again to Brisbane, Gold coast. Ran over discarded Truck tyre, stranded. Bummer.

11.4.95 Gold Coast Beach, shopping and washing day. Chilling.

12.4.95 Surfers Paradise for Breakfast, Got bike back midday, headed south, Byron Bay, East Grafton.

13.4.95 Coffs harbour, Dorrigo, Dangar Falls, Sky Walk over Rainforest. Gloucester via Kew, 6pm.

14.4.95 Raining, skipped putty road, stick to main routes. Bad traffic. Old Sydney town, Gosford, Hilton at airport, nobody twitched an eye brow as we dripped into the foyer. Great night in top Hotel.
 

15.4.95 Circular Key, raining. Took Bike back, Back to Hilton and packing for home.

Depart Sydney, bought didgeridoo, Posh hotel at Osaka. Electrically demisting bathroom mirrors !

16.4.95 Arrive home 7;30 pm. Pub with Chris and Russ.

17.4.95 Went for a ride on CBR1000, made the XJ9 feel slow and boring ! Wish we’d had the CBR in OZ!

18.4.95 Back to work, frosty ride in, snowed on the way home ! Oh how I miss the sun burn !
